TUESDAY,
FEBRUARY 10 - LECTURE SERIES CELEBRATES THE JUBILEE YEAR OF ST. PAUL AND
FEATURES REVEREND LAWRENCE BOADT, C.S.P.: Saint Joseph College
celebrates the Jubilee Year of St. Paul with a springtime lecture series
designed to reflect on Paul’s key messages and ways to apply them to
contemporary life. “St. Paul is not a mere historical figure, but
someone who has a message for us today,” said Pope Benedict XVI when he
inaugurated the Pauline Jubilee Year last summer. Running from June,
2008 to June, 2009, the Jubilee commemorates the second millennium of
Paul’s birth. On Tuesday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the
Crystal Room, Mercy Hall, Reverend Lawrence Boadt, C.S.P. will deliver
the first lecture in this series entitled, “Coming to Know St. Paul: Ten
Major Insights for Modern Spirituality.” Reverend Boadt, the
publisher of Paulist Press, will guide a discussion that reflects on St.
Paul’s understanding of a Life in Christ. He will also analyze important
passages from Paul’s letters. The St. Paul Jubilee Lecture Series is
free and open to the public. For further information, contact Ann Marie
Caron, RSM, Ph.D., associate professor of Religious Studies, at
860.231.5378 or acaron@sjc.edu.

of inclement weather, students, faculty and staff can learn about
delayed openings or closures in a variety of ways:
• The
College’s main telephone number, 860.232.4571, will always be updated
with the day’s status. This number will provide information as
to whether the College is running on a regular or special schedule. A
message of “The College is closed,” or “The College will open /close at
a specified time” will pertain to all faculty, students, and staff
members other than those deemed “essential” (Campus Safety, Facilities),
and as deemed by respective supervisors for weather-related incidents.
• Please do not call the Office of Campus Safety or other
departments on campus for this information. We will make every
effort to update the College’s main telephone line and Web site about
any change in operational status by 6:00 a.m. • Saint Joseph College
also notifies local radio and television stations of its decision to
cancel or close. • The home page of the SJC Web site, http://www.sjc.edu/ will
also contain information about weather-related announcements as they are
issued. • If you have signed up for the SJCAlert System [link to http://www.sjc.edu/content.cfm/pageid/7672 ], you will
receive a text message via your text-message capable cell phone and/or
e-mail address that you specified in your account setup. • In
addition, you will receive an e-mail via your SJC e-mail account. Be
sure to delete unnecessary e-mails on a regular basis so that your Inbox
is not full and can receive emergency or weather-related notices.
Please be
advised that Saint Joseph College, The Gengras Center, and The School
for Young Children make announcements independent of each
other. If you have any questions, please contact Cynthia
Mariani, director of marketing and communications, at 860.231.5387 or cmariani@sjc.edu.
