MONDAY, AUGUST 31 - CONVOCATION: Saint Joseph College will
host its annual Convocation ceremony on Monday, August 31 in The Connor
Chapel of Our Lady. As the
official opening of the academic year, Convocation brings students,
faculty, administrators and staff together in a ceremony that blends the
religious and spiritual with the academic.
Following a prayer of Invocation, President Pamela Trotman
Reid, Ph.D. will welcome all attendees. Vice President for Academic
Affairs/Dean Billye Auclair, Ph.D. will speak on The Meaning of
Convocation. As winner of the 2009 Reverend John J. Stack Teaching
Excellence Award, Marylouise Welch, Ph.D., professor of Nursing, will
deliver the Convocation Address.
In keeping with
tradition, new students will read the "New Student Pledge" led by Sohra
Zahedi ’11; faculty and staff members will read "A Blessing and Promise
to Students." Convocation begins at 11:30 a.m. and is followed
by a community picnic on the quad. The entire Saint Joseph
