Normally a fluke of birds and weasals, one species includes humans and cats as a host. This is the Oriental lung fluke. It can be picked up from eating undercooked crab.


Paragonimus westermanii adult, about 10 mm long. The dark leaf-like structures are the testes (posterior, to the right), ovary (center, above), and uterus (center, near the bottom). The fine networks are the vitellaria. 25x.
