*      Explore course  Blog and Diigo for information on selecting software/websites for Project One.

*      Demo on how to use Diigo to add a bookmark, annotation, and tags.

 

Due Sept. 7

1) Review former students’ websites, which are accessible from links on my faculty web page.

2) Read former students’ reviews of software and websites.

3) Access course Ning  and set up your MyPage. See direction sheet for information on weekly Ning assignments. Complete work due for Sept. 7

4) Access course Blog. Read through last five blog postings, and post a comment to one of the blogs.

5) Review information for Project One:

*      Evaluation project

*      See Evaluation form

*      Some suggested software and websites

Be prepared to ask questions in class.

1)      Select software and/or websites for Project 1. Follow steps outlined: Evaluation project

2)      Write first review inside the template created in class called Review1. Use the Open command or Open with to open the template with Microsoft Word. Be prepared for a peer critique of this review in class on Sept. 14.

3)      Post one comment on the course Blog Computers in the Classroom.

Week 3 and 4

 

Sept. 14 In class:

*      Peer critiques of Review1.

*      Continue work on website.

*      Opportunity to upload website.

*      Introduction to  Lesson plan project

*      Critique former students’ lesson plans: form provided in class.

*      Finalize Review 2. Peer critique.

*      Upload website with homepage and two reviews.

*      If time permits: Introduction to PowerPoint  assignment and critiques of former students’ PowerPoint projects.

3)      Begin to create your PowerPoint project. Outline slides and create draft of the display.

Due Oct. 12

1)      Use handout provided in class and document to guide you in reviewing former students’ responses to PowerPoint project.

2)      Gather materials for PowerPoint Project;  draft the display; see tutorials for in Blackboard or You Tube for assistance; be sure you have available images (e.g., photos) you will need for the display; save them in a folder on your portable drive if not yet inserted into the display. You will have class time to work on the display and seek feedback. Start you list of suggested ways to use PowerPoint in the Classroom. (You can search for additional ideas online; check SlideShare.com). 

3)      You can substitute Prezi, PhotoStory 3. MovieMaker for creating a PowerPoint display; however, you need to still write a descriptive list of ways to use one of these display tools in the classroom. You can use one of these tools for the display, and still make your list on PowerPoint. It does not matter, as long as you complete all three parts of the assignment.

4)      See direction sheet for Ning for what is due Oct. 19.  We are working on Forums this week. Continue the discussions. Log in often to build a productive discussion.

5)      Continue to post comments to Blog Computers in the Classroom.

 

Week 7 and 8

 

Oct. 12 In-class:

*      If need, continue presentations of program from Lesson Plans.

*      Lab:  work on display project and seek peer feedback. Critique peers’ projects.

*      Work on templates for Web Quest.

*      Continue peer response to your display project. Upload all parts of project to check appearance on the Internet.

1)      Continue to finalize display project.

2)      Consider ideas for Web Quest project. View former students’ Web Quests, as to get ideas. See the WebQuest handout distributed in class.

3) See direction sheet for Ning for what is due Oct. 19.  We are working on Forums this week. Continue the discussions. Log in as necessary to build a discussion.

Oct. 26: Web Quest

In-Class Activities

Options for templates for Web Quest: design your own in Word or use Weebly; demo of Weebly

Complete presentations of display projects.

Due Nov. 2

1)      Web Quest Project; be prepared for peer responses at Nov. 2 class.

2)      Upload parts of your Web Quest or have them available on Weebly.

3)      Complete the online participation sheet for the Blog and Ning. Be prepared to submit Nov. 2. Suggestions: reply to recent Blog about online slide sharing sites. Open an account at one of the sites.

 

Week 9 and 10

 

Nov. 2  In-class:

*      Lab for time to work on Web Quest and seek peer responses.

*       Application project discussion of possible selections

*      Use Diigo, Computers in the Classroom, and other sources to access information about Web 2.0 tools to use for Application project. Select a tool you have never used, given all the tools now available.

*      Lab to work on Web Quest.

*      Peer critique Web Quest in class as time permits.

*      Add bio to website, add link to it, and upload all edited web pages.

 

 

Due Nov. 30

1) Finish all parts of Web Quest. All parts will be uploaded to Internet at Nov. 30 class.

2) Conclude work on application project. Starting Nov. 30, students will present Application as a tutorial to classmates.

3) Post to course Ning and blog.
