Course Description

This course focuses on computer applications and concepts related to teaching on the K-12 level. The course provides hands-on experience with numerous computer programs and tools. A critical component of this course centers on effective ways to integrate computer technology into the classroom.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to:

Evaluate educational software/websites and identify ways to integrate software/websites into the curriculum
Write a software or website lesson plan complementary to applicable curriculum.
Create a web site
Create an advanced PowerPoint display or other multimedia display presentation (e.g., Prezi, PhotoStory, iMovie, MovieMaker)
Create a Web Quest, including teacher instructions and the online components for students to conduct the quest 
Use application software or an online application tool (e.g., spreadsheets, graphic organizers, digital storytelling/photo/video program, blog, wiki, ning, and other Web2.0 tools) to create materials and to identify ways to integrate such tools into the classroom setting
