Simple
Method Use the clip art provided in
the program. Place cursor where the
picture will be inserted, go to “Insert” menu, select “Picture” and “Clip
Art.” Use the search feature to find
an appropriate clip art. Once a
picture is found, click on it, and insert it.
Resize it, by clicking on it and using the sizing handles, and move
it, by dragging and dropping. Another
Simple Method Using Microsoft Online Instead of searching for a
picture from within the software, look for the option in the search box
called “Clip online.” Click it to go
online to get to the Microsoft site.
Find the clip art you want.
Once it is located, click on it, and it will be downloaded into a
folder on the computer you are using.
Go to the place in your webpage where you want to insert the picture,
and use the Insert Picture command as described above and look for the clip
art you downloaded in the folder where it was saved. Inserting
Pictures Found on Web Sites Be sure the picture is not
copyrighted. Assuming it is not, you
can try to copy it, save it, and paste it into one of your web pages. As a courtesy, you should acknowledge the
source of the picture. On the site
where you have found the picture, place your cursor on the picture and right
mouse click. A popup menu will appear,
and one of the options will be save picture.
Select this picture, and then open the folder on your computer where you
want to save the picture. If you are
working on campus, you are advised to save the picture on your U drive space in
a folder that you create called Pictures. Give the picture you are saving a short, one
word filename. Then, go back to your
webpage and the place where you want to insert the picture, and then select
from the Insert menu, Picture, and From File. Now find the picture in the folder where you
saved it, and follow the directions on the screen for inserting the picture
into your web page. Inserting
Scanned Pictures and Digital Photos Assuming
the picture has been saved into the appropriate folder (see above information
about saving pictures in a Picture folder) or on a disk, you will insert you
picture using the method outlined above for inserting a saved picture. (Go to the “Insert” menu, and select
“Picture” and “From file.”) Features
on the “Picture” toolbar can be used for cropping, adjusting contrast, and
making other changes. However, often
it is easier to make these adjustments when you first scan the picture using the
scanning software. Keep in mind, it is
helpful to save digital and scanned photographs using the smallest possible
file size, so the pictures do not take up valuable “memory” and “space” on
your website, as both loading time and file storage space are affected.
