Inserting Pictures
Simple
Method ![]()
Use the clip art provided in
the program. Place cursor where the
picture will be inserted, go to “Insert” menu, select “Picture” and “Clip Art.” Use the search feature to find an appropriate
clip art. Once a picture is found, click
on it, and insert it. Resize it, by
clicking on it and using the sizing handles, and move it, by dragging and
dropping.
Another
Simple Method Using Microsoft Online ![]()
Instead of searching for a picture
from within the software, look for the option in the search box called “Clip online.”
Click
it to go online to get to the Microsoft site.
Find the clip art you want. Once
it is located, right mouse clip on it, select the option called Save Picture
As, and save the picture in the U drive in a folder created with the name “Pictures.” Be sure to save the picture with a short
appropriate name. Once the picture is
saved in the “Picture” folder, go back to the place where the picture needs to
be inserted. Go to the “Insert” menu,
select “Picture” and “From file.” Then
go to the “Picture” folder on the U drive and find the picture. Insert it, and size and position it as
described above.
Inserting
Pictures Found on Web Sites ![]()
Be sure the picture is not
copyrighted and give an acknowledgement if requested on the site. Once the picture is selected by using the
right-mouse method described above, save the picture in the “Picture” folder giving
the file an appropriate name. Insert the
picture into the desired file using the method outlined above for inserting
pictures once they are saved.
Inserting
Scanned Pictures and Digital Photos ![]()
Assuming
the picture has been saved into the appropriate folder, “Picture,” follow the method
for inserting a picture from a file as described above. (Go to the “Insert” menu, and select “Picture”
and “From file.”) Features on the “Picture”
toolbar can be used for cropping, adjusting contrast, and making other changes. However, often it is easier to do some of
this when scanning a picture using a program like Photo Shop. As you work with digital photos and the
scanner, you will learn about resolution and cropping. It is important to save digital and scanned
photographs using the smallest possible file size, so the pictures do not take
up valuable “memory” and “space” on your website, as both loading time and file
storage space are affected.
