Course Description
This course involves "practice in exposition, argumentation,
and the methods of research based on the study and discussion of creative,
critical, and factual works of the 20th century" (Saint
Joseph College Catalog, p. 65).
Course
Format and Philosophy Class sessions are held in a computer lab and conducted as a workshop.
Journal writing, prewriting, peer reviews, and conferencing techniques are
included in the course. The course emphasizes writing for a purpose and
audience. Students develop their own web
site, contribute to class web sites and participate in IEDP, an online
discussion project involving students at other colleges. The course emphasizes the ways in which
computers influence writers and how knowledge of computer authoring
techniques can lead to better communication
