Unit 2: Profile
Thursday 20 September	Introduction to Profile Assignment. Continue Time Capsule and website project. Journal 9	Read CTW, pp. 231-251. Journal 10 Read sample Profile.
Tuesday 25 September	Planning profile. Introduction to Electronic Democracy Project Link to IEDP	Set up interview. Begin paper. Read CTW, pp. 260-268. Write preliminary notes for paper and interview questions.
Thursday 27 September	In lieu of class meeting, use time to conduct interview.	Write draft of profile, and bring two copies to next class for peer review.
Tuesday 2 October	Peer review of profile. LBC section on modifiers, pp. 213-217. IEDP.	Revise and edit Profile. Meet with ARC tutors to review paper. Final copy of Profile is due 4 Oct. Journals 9 and 10 and IEDP Introduction Project is due 4 Oct.

Unit 3: Commentaries
Thursday 4 October	Prepare Profile for Class Publication. Continue Web site.	Read CTW, pp. 73-113. Journal 11 Continue IEDP; see IEDP Assignment 2.
Tuesday 8 October	Review of IEDP Assignment 2. Commentary Assignment. See sample commentaries.	Read CTW, pp. 328-367 and MR, pp. 78-128. Select from MR, an essay that relates to a topic interest you. Journal 12. Read sample commentaries. Continue IEDP; see IEDP Assignment 2. *** IEDP Assignment 2 and Journals 11 and 12 will be collected 11 Oct. Bring disk with Memoir and Profile to 11 Oct. class!
Thursday 11 October	Review journals 11 and 12. Web site work. MLA Citation Format	IEDP Assignment 3. due next class. Find newspaper and magazine articles related to your topic. In your commentary, use these articles, essays from MR, and posts from IEDP posts. Use MLA citations. Draft commentary and bring two copies to class for peer review. ARC appointments. Bring LBC to next class.
Tuesday 16 October	Peer review of commentary. IEDP. LBC section on appropriate and exact words, pp. 130-143, and conciseness, pp. 145-150. Online activity on word choices. MLA Citation Format	Continue IEDP. Revise commentary. ARC appointments. Final copy of commentary is due 18 Oct.

Unit 4: Research Project
Thursday 18 October	Introduction. Website: add commentary and revise site.	Read LBC, pp. 297-343.
Tuesday 23 October	Library and database overview.	Continue IEDP. Locate references. Journal 13.
Thursday 25 October	Note cards and outlining.	Locate a total of 10 references. Begin to prepare notecards and simultaneously create outline. Continue IEDP. Bring all materials to class.
Tuesday 30 October	Conducting interviews and surveys Sample note cards	Continue notecards and outline. Continue IEDP. See IEDP Assignment 4. Prepare survey and make copies. Surveys to be administered at next class. Notecards and outline will be checked at next class.
Thursday 1 November	Administer surveys Ask questions about notecards and outline. Review format for these two steps. Continue with Web site and upload it to the Internet.	Conduct interview. See information on argumentative writing. Administer surveys. Finish notecards and outline. Write 1-2 pages of paper. Notecards, outline, and first part of paper will be collected. Consult with ARC tutors. Set up instructor conference. Bring all 3 course textbooks to next class.
Tuesday 6 November	Review of argumentative writing strategies. Integrating references using the MLA style and the use of signal phrases.	Continue work on paper. Write at least half of the paper, and submit a copy of work next class. IEDP assignment 4 due 8^th Nov.

Unit 5: Reviews (and Continuation of Research Project)
Thursday 8 November	In-class work on papers	Finish first full draft of paper. Submit draft to instructor on 13 Nov. and exchange draft with a peer time permitting.
