Mission:
The Parent Advisory Committee's role is to help build a sense
of community among families and staff through activities and
ongoing school wide communication. With the help of parent
volunteers, PAC provides support for all school programs and
is an avenue for parent feedback which is used to shape the
direction of the school.
PAC Committees:
There are several committees that make up PAC. Each is important
in the overall goal of supporting the school's programs and
PAC's mission of building community. Each committee has a
coordinator and volunteers that meet as needed to plan and
run their activities. The committees are:
The Community Service Committee collects
various items throughout the year to benefit our local community
and our school community. The committee has had a great success
collecting and distributing coats, books, food and holiday
gifts for those in need.
The Fall Festival Committee plans a two-day
family celebration on the school grounds including hay rides,
pumpkin decorating, face-painting and other seasonal activities.
The
Holiday Show Committee coordinates volunteers to
help organize the social gathering after the holiday program.
The show is held on the campus of Saint Joseph College each
December. Various performers including singers and storytellers
entertain children and families alike. Teachers and staff
enjoy a gathering with families and children after the show.
Teacher Appreciation Day Committee plans
and implements a day set to honor our teachers with a luncheon
and other signs of appreciation.
The Spring Auction Fundraiser Committee
coordinates an important (and fun!) event at SYC. The auction
raises money to benefit the school with additional funding
for teaching materials, teacher training and physical improvements
to the school. Parents, SYC staff, and friends attend an auction
and party. The is a great opportunity to socialize with the
entire SYC community.
The Special Events Committee is responsible
for organizing several community building events throughout
the year including the Fall and Spring picnics a well as the
movie nights.

Parent Support and Education Committee 's
goal is to gather feedback from parents and staff and plan
workshops on parenting topics throughout the year. Guest speakers
have included teachers, school administrators and child psychologists.
Parent Advisory meetings are held throughout the year. The
meeitngs are an open forum for everyone at The School for
Young Children to hear about school activities and to share
feedback and ideas that will help develop future programs.
We encourage everyone to come, listen, participate,
volunteer and be part of the community. All are welcome! |
